MegaSkills ®

MegaSkills®  are inner engines of learning, the very basic attitudes and behaviors that determine a child's achievement in school and in life. We know that our children need basic skills to succeed…but for children to learn, and keep learning, they need another important set of skills that are taught at home.

History of MegaSkills®

Dr. Dorothy Rich, the creator of MegaSkills® , began teaching in the 1950s. During her years teaching she realized the important role of parents and learning at home to the success of children in school and life. Dr. Rich used this knowledge when she founded the Home and School Institute in Washington, DC. The Home and School Institute offered parent seminars called Success for Children Begins at Home and teacher trainings on building partnerships with families. The MegaSkills®  program became part of the Home and School Institute in the 1980s. MegaSkills®  focuses on building our children's love of learning through fun everyday experiences they share with important adults in their lives.. This love of learning makes it possible children to succeed in school and in life. Dr. Rich passed away in 2009 but her very important work is carried on by many across the nation and worldwide.
